7. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember preferences, analyze usage, and serve relevant advertising. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us recognize you and improve your experience.
7.1 Types of cookies we use
- Essential cookies. Necessary for the Service to function, such as authentication and security cookies. These cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality.
- Preference cookies. Remember your settings and choices, such as theme or language preferences.
- Analytics cookies. Help us understand how users interact with the Service so we can improve it.
- Advertising cookies. Used by advertising partners to deliver and measure ads and, where permitted, to personalize advertising based on your interests.
7.2 Managing cookies
Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically refuse or delete cookies, but doing so may affect the functionality of the Service. You can also manage advertising cookies and opt out of personalized advertising through your browser settings and the ad provider's opt-out controls.
8. Analytics
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the Service, diagnose issues, and improve features. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device type, browser, referring pages, and in-app interactions. Analytics data is generally aggregated and may be processed by third-party analytics providers on our behalf. We do not intentionally collect personal information through analytics beyond what is automatically generated by standard web analytics tools.
9. Advertising
Slangsmith may display advertising through third-party advertising partners. These partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to measure ad delivery and performance and, where permitted, to show you ads that may be more relevant to your interests based on your activity across different websites and apps.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers. We may share limited data with advertising partners to enable ad delivery and measurement, subject to their privacy policies and applicable law. You can manage ad personalization and opt out of interest-based advertising through your browser settings and the ad provider's controls.
10. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with trusted third-party providers that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, database storage, authentication, AI translation, analytics, and advertising. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as necessary to provide their services.
- Payment processor and Merchant of Record (Paddle). When you purchase a paid plan, the transaction is handled by Paddle.com Market Limited and its affiliates ("Paddle"), which acts as the Merchant of Record and reseller of our products. Paddle receives the information needed to process your payment, including your name, email address, billing address, IP address, payment method details, and details of the items you purchase. Paddle is an independent controller for the payment-related data it collects and processes that data in accordance with its own Privacy Notice. Paddle also handles billing-related customer support, taxes, invoices, and refunds.
- Public shares. If you choose to share a translation publicly, the content you share (including any display name you choose) may be visible to anyone who has access to the share link.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety and that of others.
- Business transfers. If Slangsmith is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
11. Third-party services and subprocessors
We rely on third-party services to host, secure, and operate the Service. The infrastructure and backend services that power Slangsmith are provided by the Lovable platform, which includes hosting, database, authentication, and storage capabilities. Slangsmith is responsible for how we configure and use these services, while the platform provider is responsible for the underlying infrastructure.
Additional third-party services may include AI translation providers, authentication providers, social media platforms, and advertising partners. Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy and terms. We encourage you to review their policies to understand their practices.
12. International data transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one in which you reside. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. We take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information when transferred internationally, in accordance with applicable law.
13. Data security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include access controls, encryption in transit, and regular security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
